84% of respondents report that clients are pausing services because family members under shelter-in-place orders can care for them at this time.
The home care business experts at Home Care Pulse recently launched a survey to measure the impact of COVID-19 on home care businesses. As the survey is still ongoing, the data may change, but one clear trend holds steady:
There was a reason they hired a professional caregiver.
It may be distressing to have so many clients suspending service right now. But keep in mind, most of those families reached out to a home care agency for help with a loved one for reasons that will not go away when the crisis is over.
- Some may not have time to provide care due to other family or work-related obligations.
- Others may have already done it for years and reached burnout.
- And some may not feel qualified to provide the level of care their loved one needs.
They WILL come back! And to let them know how much you care (and want them back) you can take steps to help all those family caregivers meet the needs of their loved one in a safe and healthy manner.
