Activities for Individuals Living with Alzheimer’s Disease

This course reinforces that appropriate activity positively impacts the behaviors associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Caregivers will learn about the benefits of physical, mental, and sensory activities. The course also covers how to overcome obstacles preventing clients living with Alzheimer’s disease from being active by focusing on the five senses, the importance of social activity, and the power of music.

List at least two benefits of physical activity, mental activity, and sensory activity. Discuss why people living with Alzheimer’s disease may resist activities and what you can do to help. Describe how ADLs are beneficial activities that can become part of your client’s routine. Suggest activities for every client living with Alzheimer’s disease, regardless of stage or health status. Help your clients living with Alzheimer’s disease participate in stage-appropriate activities every day.
