Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias
This program provides information to support care of the patient with Alzheimer’s disease in the home care and hospice setting. The course reviews pathophysiology, assessment, risk factors, and management strategies for people in various stages of dementia.
- Identify at least three common types of dementia.
- Distinguish between memory loss associated with normal aging and that resulting from Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD).
- Describe the characteristics and stages of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
- Discuss the most common assessment findings of dementia and those that predict that the person is at the end-of-life.
- Identify strategies for effectively communicating with patients with dementia.
