This program provides an overview of the management of patients with advanced heart failure at the end-of-life. The focus is on measures to support the extensive symptom burden present in this population, while promoting quality of life.
- Categorize patients as eligible vs ineligible for hospice care based on current heart disease state, history, and prognosis.
- Interpret patient symptoms and match to the appropriate level and location of care.
- Match common end of life symptoms for patients with heart disease with the appropriate pharmacologic/non-pharmacologic measures used to promote comfort.
