Understanding Home Health: Defining Skilled Services

This course provides foundational education for all home health clinicians regarding the definition of a skilled service. Clinicians will be able to understand and describe skilled and non-skilled home health services, and further differentiate between what qualifies a patient for home health and how each discipline can provide these services. Medically reasonable and necessary care practice is explored with multiple patient examples and realistic scenarios. This course is appropriate for all home health clinicians, as well as any staff member, for an orientation or ongoing review of skilled home health services.

Describe the skilled and non-skilled services that are available in home health. Distinguish between qualifying and non-qualifying skilled services in home health. List at least 5 examples of medically reasonable and necessary skilled services that home health disciplines can provide to patients.
