Helping Clients with Mental Illness

This inservice provides a basic understanding of common mental disorders (such as schizophrenia, manic-depression, and anxiety disorders) to foster compassion and patience among caregivers.

Define mental illness.
Describe at least three symptoms each of mania, depression, anxiety disorder, and schizophrenia.
Discuss how to help clients manage the symptoms of mental illness.
List at least three warning signs one may observe in a suicidal client.
Demonstrate how to help clients who have been diagnosed with a mental illness.
