This course provides an overview of the role and responsibilities of direct care workers. Care professionals will review the different settings where they might work and the communication and teamwork skills necessary to succeed on the job. They will learn how to follow a care plan, maintain confidentiality, and avoid burnout in what can be a high stress career.

• Describe the role and responsibilities of at least three different types of caregivers.
• Identify different types of clients you may encounter and the duties you will perform as a caregiver.
• Apply professional standards when communicating with clients, their families, and the rest of the healthcare team.
