Understanding Home Health Care: Coverage Criteria & Prudent Practice

Home health clinicians will have an improved understanding of the required Conditions of Participation as well as Medicare-based criteria standards. Clinicians will be able to identify homebound patients, define medically reasonable care, and adequately differentiate between covered and non-covered skilled home health services by the end of the course.

  • Describe Home Health Conditions of Participation and Medicare Coverage Criteria.
  • List the 2 criteria for Medicare homebound eligibility and effectively differentiate between homebound and not homebound patients.
  • Define medically reasonable care.
  • Explain the Patient Driven Groupings Model (PDGM) as it relates to home health care.
  • List 3 examples of covered skilled home health services and 3 examples of non-covered skilled home health services.
